    Richard Dawkins (1941) je priznan britanski antropolog, evolucijski biolog in pisec številnih del z raznih področij poljudne znanosti.

    Je odkrit ateist, humanist, goreč skeptik, kritik kreacionizma in eden najbolj znanih intelektualcev v angleško govorečem svetu.

    Znanstveno in poljudno javnost je leta 1976 pretresel s knjigo Sebični gen (The Selfish Gene), v kateri predstavlja »genocentrični« pogled na evolucijo. Zagovarja tezo, da je razvoj posledica dednih zakonitosti. Geni, ki jih prenašamo iz roda v rod, pa so gonilo v naravnem boju za obstanek.

    Teorije je pozneje še dopolnil v knjigi Razširjeni fenotip (The Extended Phenotype), v kateri dokazuje, da geni ne vplivajo samo na telo, v katerem so, ampak tudi na okolje in druge organizme.

    Dawkinsova najpopularnejša knjiga doslej je Bog kot zabloda, ki je bila prevedena v 31 jezikov. Kot prepričan ateist in goreč kritik kreacionizma je v njej utemeljil idejo, da bog ne obstaja
